When Finney gets captured by “the Grabber” and imprisoned in a cellar, he fears a fatal end. However, the disconnected phone on the wall keeps ringing, with spooky callers providing assistance, and the prophetic visions of Gwen, his sister might rescue him. A genuinely scary movie. The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the struggle between God and Mammon, the winner is obvious for materialism in this director's brilliantly over-the-top biopic about the fallen religious broadcaster and her criminal husband. The actor acts as the corrupt Bakker, who states early on, asserting religious justification for riches. He and Tammy Faye commence capitalizing on the nation's religious faith. It's a spectacle of bad interior design, excessive cosmetics and insincerity, though Jessica Chastain achieves to present the real-life figure as a sympathetic figure. Next Tuesday, 1.15am, on Film4
