'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith resumes battle with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the dramatic dying seconds of his team's remarkable turnaround win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear amid the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative strike from 25 yards, and his teammate quickly hammered in the loose ball before sprinting toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with fans mobbing the players.

Stunning Reversal

This sealed an extraordinary turnaround given Swansea had trailed 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. In the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a fan shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

That win earned a fourth-round game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's first-time shot from about way out going in via the woodwork and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've awarded it to him for attempting the shot from that distance," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right flank after Orient changed formation. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the opposition who complimented the way Orient approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are outstanding but even the basics and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they always find their target and they understand how to dictate and slow down a game. You can feel you're doing well and then without warning they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and attention just to stay in the game."

New Chapter

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at his former club and has swiftly replicated that in Wales. At the London club he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in professional games on loan at a League One side from United. Then came a spell at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he departed his boyhood club.

Learning Curve

"I was likely a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without real physicality. There's not many tackles or duels. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that growth for his team and nation, performing well for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has started the last several matches, including home and away fixtures against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

This represents an incredible journey for the kid from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his parent, his father, also a midfielder, play for his father's team.

Manchester United Experience

The player's sole appearance for United came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was closed owing to the weather of freezing cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was freezing," he says, chuckling. "The preceding week, several youth players and I practiced as a group, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I realized I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I felt I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

It is mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to Sketty, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a small coach driven by club employees, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"My companions include a teammate, another squad member, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has got his license. It's nice to socialize with the lads but I'm aiming to be the next one to stop using the bus and on the road. His teammate likes to pull a few pranks; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on London's Central line after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
